Environmental Watch - Polluters Beware

All over the world, governments are finally making it cost more to pollute our planet. Large companies are getting hit where it hurts.

For a start, here’s a breath of fresh air:  Bush is out, Obama is in.

Obama’s promised to support tax initiatives that 1)  enhance alternative energy development, and 2)  deter big polluters - such as coal plants. When money talks, finally they listen - all except for those big three dinosaur car manufacturers in Detroit, anyway.

But it doesn’t stop there.  You’d have to still be joy-riding the horse of a different color not to see the writing in the sky:  Polluters Go Home. But in this case, it’s the good witch riding the broom.

Grassroots organizations around the world have big business squirming.

The WorldWatch Institute reports:

“Climate activists worldwide are raising the stakes, with many turning to civil disobedience to make their voices heard. Actions in recent months have ranged from chaining themselves to coal conveyor belts in Sydney, to forming port blockades in the Netherlands, to scaling smokestacks in the United Kingdom.”

In the USA:

“Members of Everglades Earth First!, a Florida-based environmental group, block the construction site of a natural gas-fired power plant in February. Lynne Purvis and seven other members face charges next month for trespassing onto the site.”

Time to hang up your green-washing, big business. You’re not fooling anyone.

It is amazing how many businesses that are marketing themselves as environmentally-friendly because green is the current marketing trend are actually destroying the environment in so many ways.
