columbus Carnival of Personal Finance #174 - The Columbus Day EditionOver the years Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) has become a somewhat controversial hero of American and Spanish History.  One thing is for certain, however.  He was a great risk taker, that changed how the world was perceived  “The longest any ship (European or otherwise) had gone without making landfall did not much exceed 30 days when Columbus embarked on his first audacious voyage,” states Wikipedia.  And thought it was generally accepted by great thinkers of his time that the world was round, the masses still believed otherwise.
