Walmart Mobilizes Against Democrats
Walmart is holding nationwide meetings with its employees for the purpose of encouraging them to vote Republican in November.
So states the Wall Street Journal, after speaking with several Walmart employees.
The “Walmart word” is that if a Democratic President is in office, a proposed piece of legislation called The Employee Free Choice Act will pass.
The Free Choice Act would - among other things - allow employees to vote to unionize on paper - i.e. in private - rather than verbally.
This privacy would make it easier for Walmart workers to vote their choice without facing consequences from their employer.
And we know that if Walmart workers unionize, Walmart shareholders won’t be happy.
Walmart further told its employees that, should a union come in, they will undoubtedly have to cut jobs. Union workers would also have to pay large union dues with no return.
The Employee Free Choice Act currently has bipartisan support in Congress. A Republican President would likely veto the bill, while a Democratic President would sign it.
Will Walmart scare tactics have an affect on the election? Do you think that management has a right to advise their employees in this manner?
My opinion: I’m not surprised that Walmart has such audacity to advise their workers how to vote. If the workers should unionize, they’d receive a fare wage and benefits. Walmart will then have to reduce their exorbitant profits, or raise their prices.
I, for one, think that would be a good thing.
What’s your opinion? Will Walmart scare tactics work?

Sure they’ll work. Wal-Mart has simply learned a trick or two from how Democrats in Arkansas worked over the year.
For example, when Bill Clinton spoke at the University of Arkansas in 1996, members of the UA band (who played at Clinton’s appearance) were instructed to remove all anti-Cliton and/or pro-Dole paraphernalia from their instruments and uniforms. The pro-Clinton items, of course, remained.
For another example, my grandfather worked for the State Police when Faubus was governor. He was told that he’d not have a job if he voted right.
Such strong arm tactics are reprehensible, no matter who is using them. Don’t single out Wal-Mart and the Republicans for them — that kind of thing has been going on for years.
Frankly, I hope Wal-Mart fails at about 90 percent of what they do. And, that includes trying to tell employees how to vote.
