List-o-Rama: Know Any Songs About Money? Win a $20 Amazon Gift Card
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
The Ten Commandments is a famous list, the first substantial one I know of. I’m sure people made lists before then, but I can’t think of any famous ones, can you?
Anyway, I’ve read lists that aren’t famous that I’ve thought were just as good.
4 Things I Think Make a Good List
1) It’s a quick read. That’s why they call it a list, not a novelette, or something.
2) It’s short. No more than 10 items is preferable. I can barely make it past 10 items. Having said this, sometimes a long list is ok, if I see it regularly. Like Frugal Hacks has an awesome 300 member blogroll on their website. And I did make it through the list of 25 Tips and Tricks.
3) It must make me think, laugh, or learn something. Some lists will claim to be able to change my life, but that will take more than a list.
4) A number in the title is not essential. Some lists are not meant to be numbered. I like a number in the title because it gives me an idea of what I’m getting into. If it’s 3 items, then that’s a different commitment then if it’s 100 items.
So that is my thoughts on lists. Now, to the contest!
‘Songs About Money’ Contest
CONTEST RULES:
Enter song titles by leaving a comment here. Each song gains you 1 entry. So if you put 10 songs in, you have 10 entries.
I’ll post the growing list in my sidebar (with youtube link!) You can put more than 1 entry in a comment, but if the song’s already been entered, it doesn’t count anymore. So whomever enters the song first gets their name entered.
When we have exhausted all the songs out there, I’ll have a raffle with all the entries, post the winner, and contact them by email.
By the way, if you want to tell us who wrote or performed the song, or a little about it, that would be fun. NOT A REQUIREMENT.
My goal is to increase commenting on my site. It’s pretty new-
OK, I’ll start with this oldie:
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?? Written by Cole Porter, and performed by Frank Sinatra and Celeste Holm in the movie High Society in 1956. My father used to sing this to me.

Two come to mind so far!… “Money” by Pink Floyd and “Can’t Buy Me Love” by the Beatles. Unfortunately, I don’t have much background on the songs to report. I’ll keep thinking (that gets harder with each passing year).

It’s a take on BNL’s “If I had $1,000,000″…but set in a Ren. Faire atmosphere.
“I Wanna Be Rich” - ??? It’s on the Pretty Woman soundtrack but I don’t remember the artist.
“Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous” - Good Charlotte. More about people having lots of money and those who don’t than actual dollars and cents so I’m not sure if it qualifies or not.

@ To all: Wow, these are some great lists! Jamie, you’ll definitely have an advantage, with all those entries. I hope you liked my blog, too. I’ll keep you posted on when I’ll be having the drawing.
I think I’ll have to cancel putting these all up as Youtubes on the site, like I originally said I would. I could make a new page instead of doing the blogroll, but it would take me forever! Thanks for the great response!
